How to let Twitter users DM you without having to follow them back

Previously, you were required to follow someone before they could directly send you a DM but Twitter has now made it possible to receive direct messages (DM) from other Twitter users without having to follow them.

• To enable this feature, login in Twitter, click "Settings" and check the box next to "Messages" (see image above).

Now any Twitter user that follows you can send you a DM, regardless of whether you decide to follow them back.

If you receive annoying messages, you still have the option to block that particular person i.e. Open their profile, click on the person icon then chose the "block" or "report for spam" option (click here for instructions).
